As we approach the end of 2023, I have been looking back at what I have accomplished in 2023 and what I would like to accomplish in 2024. Yes, the end of the year and the coming of the new year bring a bit of this in all of us. It also puts a bit of pressure on us too - whether that is personal pressure that we put on ourselves, or societal pressure that we feel around us when we hear about everyone's "New Year's resolutions". Why do we do this to ourselves and each other? Yes, we all want next your to be better than the last; we all want to be better human beings as we grow older and "wiser". But sometimes it works against us and puts undo pressure on us, especially if we feel like we haven't accomplished what we had originally set out to do last year!
As I begin my second year as a small business owner, I do want to reflect at how things went last year and how I would like to grow in the coming year. As a matter of fact, I spent most of the day last week contemplating this very thing and writing it all down so I can remind myself throughout the year. Overall, I am very pleased with how things went in my first year! Not knowing anything about starting a business, I read a lot, asked a lot of questions, and put on my big girl pants. There is always an element of courage that one needs when walking into unknown territory such as was the case for me. But it feels good to have Year 1 under my belt, and I feel I have accomplished so much and learned even more.
As I set sail into 2024 and Year 2 of Kyra's Fine Art, I leave myself a bit of wiggle room, as one never knows what life has in store for us. But I do want to say thank you for everyone that taught me, inspired me, and supported me in one way or another in 2023. I truly couldn't have done it without you.
